Blackberry May Intent To Release An Android Phone

According to the sources, it has been reported that BlackBerry may intent to release an Android Phone later this year. It doesn’t mean that it will be the end of BlackBerry 10 devices that were launched in early 2013, instead it is a big move that indicates the dwindling sales of the Ontario based company.

John Chen, Chief Executive Officer of BlackBerry is banking on BES12- the new device management system that allows government and corporate clients to manage not only BlackBerry devices on their internal networks, but also iOS, Android and Windows powered devices.

“The move to use Android in their next device is part of the BlackBerry’s strategy to focus on their new device management system-BES12” as reported by the sources.

It seems that the slider device which BlackBerry displayed on stage at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, earlier this year could be released with Android OS. In a statement the company said “We don’t comment on rumors and speculations, but we remain committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which provides security and productivity benefits that are unmatched.”

BlackBerry which used to dominate smartphone sales in the world has now less than one percent market share. BlackBerry hopes to make a re-entry in the smartphone market, by making an Android phone that brags a large touchscreen and a physical keyboard. The device may attract the diehard blackberry fans using older BlackBerry keyboard phones, but wanted an access to a larger number of app Android offers.

Releasing an Android phone could improve BlackBerry’s enterprise credentials by showing that its new security and device management software can work on other famous platforms also.
