“Since our troops are alert and the infiltrators are finding it hard to cross in, therefore they had drilled a tunnel to sneak into this side of IB”, said a BSF officer. BSF tunnel busting teams are probing if the tunnel was being operated by Pakistan based terror groups to push terrorists inside India.

“We’ve conducted detailed investigation of the tunnel that was detected yesterday”.

This has been the fourth cross border tunnel emanating from Pakistan side which has been detected by BSF during the past five years. We have also contacted Pakistani rangers and brought it to their notice.

BSF IG Rakesh Sharma told reporters that it appeared that a big terrorist attack was being planned after infiltration through this tunnel in near future. While talking to media persons BSF’s, Inspector General, Frontier, Anil Paliwal informed that the Pak intruder was shot dead in the area of BSF’s border out post Dona Raja Deena Nath in Ferozpur sector.

“But it was blocked on our side”.

A 400-metre-long cross-border tunnel along the global border was found in July 2012 in the Samba sector.

Initially, when BSF officers said their Pak counterparts to come for a flag meeting they resisted but under pressure from the Indian side they also visited the zero line.

A patrol party of BSF had on Thursday discovered a 50-metre long tunnel at AMK (Allah Mai Kothay) area in RS Pura sector.

In May 2014, it found a caved-in portion of the tunnel in Chillyari border belt in Samba district, which was found 23 metres inside the Indian territory.

A 30-metre-long tunnel from Pakistan to the Indian side is shown by BSF on a screen after it was detected by them in R S Pura Sector Jammu
