Google promises monthly Android security updates after getting the jolt of Stagefright security flaw

Last week, Zimperium zLabs discovered Android Stagefright security flaw, a critical vulnerability in the Android operating system. This flaw could let hackers take control of the Android smartphones by sending a simple message. After getting this jolt Google promises monthly Android security updates to improve mobile security of its users. The search engine giant has already started applying the relevant patchwork and will soon be available for all Android users.

Google promises monthly Android security updates and Dong and Jin Koh, Executive Vice President and Head of Mobile Research and Development Office, IT & Mobile Communications at Samsung Electronics said:

“With the recent security issues, we have been rethinking the approach to getting security updates to our devices in a more timely manner. Since software is constantly exploited in new ways, developing a fast response process to deliver security patches to our devices is critical to keep them protected. We believe that this new process will vastly improve the security of our devices and will aim to provide the best mobile experience possible for our users.”

Google promises monthly Android security updates was revealed in an official Android blog post. According to the post Nexus devices will receive monthly OTA updates focused on security along with platform updates. The first Android security update has already been rolled out for Nexus 10, Nexus 9, Nexus 7, Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Nexus 4 and Nexus Player.

Google promises monthly Android security updates; following its footsteps Samsung has also announced its latest Android security update process that will fast-track security patches. It is also planning the security updates on a monthly basis. After the recent Android Stagefright security issues, the South Korean giant claims to have fast-tracked security updates to its Galaxy devices.
