LinkedIn will send less notification mails to users after receiving many complaints regarding it
In a recent blog post, the company officials announced that LinkedIn will send less notification mails to users after receiving many complaints regarding it. The company said that for every ten emails mailed earlier, it has removed four.
This is for the second time that LinkedIn has announced a change in policy this month due to user dissatisfaction. Earlier this month, LinkedIn’s Security Blog released a post saying that, after continuous protest by users LinkedIn brings back Export Contacts Feature and now LinkedIn will send less notification mails to users.
Aatif Awan, LinkedIn’s Senior Director of Product Management, wrote in the blog post:
“We’re also not immune to the late night talk show host jokes. We get it. And we’ve recently begun to make changes so that the emails you receive are more infrequent and more relevant.”
LinkedIn will send less notification mails to users and now gives users a single email rundown of their connection invites instead of individual messages so that the company can cut down the number of notifications, if users are getting “too many.” If any user is a part of multiple groups, LinkedIn will summarize across the board activity within them into a single update instead of a different notification for each group.
According to the company, after implementation of these changes the result is that the website now sends nearly 40% less emails than before. Apparently, users’ complaints have also been halved since the company implemented new policies.
Despite the popularity and benefits of LinkedIn among the business community, endless notification emails are quite annoying for many LinkedIn users. So, to enhance the user experience LinkedIn will send less notification mails to users.
