Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac has been officially released

Last month, Microsoft launched Office apps for Android and in March, a preview of Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac was launched. Now, Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac has been officially released. Office 2016 includes the latest version of Excel, PowerPoint and Word and will be available in 139 countries and 16 languages.

Microsoft said in a blog post “Office for Mac is cloud-connected, so you can quickly get to the documents you’ve recently used on other devices and pick up where you left off. New, built-in document sharing tools make it easy to invite teammates to work on a document together.”

What’s new in Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac?

It also includes support for the task panes, signature ribbon interface, retina displays, cloud integration and Multi-Touch gestures. Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac is connected to cloud to enable document access across all devices. Some updates for Excel, Word and PowerPoint are as follows:

Excel 2016

Excel 2016 for Mac includes autocomplete and an improved formula builder designed to save time when entering data or building a spreadsheet. The latest PivotTable slicers are designed for filtering large chunks of data which can be helpful in conducting advanced analysis.

Word 2016

Word 2016 for Mac has added a new “Design tab” that will let users change the colors, fonts and layouts within their document very easily. It has also a new feature called collaboration which will let users work on the same document with their colleagues simultaneously.

PowerPoint 2016

PowerPoint 2016 for Mac has advanced presenter view that shows the presenter the current slide, next slide, timer and speaker notes on their screen, while the audience will see only the current slide on the big screen.

Microsoft Office 2016 for Mac is currently rolled out for Office 365 subscribers only at no additional cost. If non-Office 365 subscribers want to download the Office 2016 for Mac they can purchase a subscription most probably by September which will vary according to plan. Office 365 Home will cost $9.99 per month and a Personal account will cost $6.99.
