In an open letter to Microsoft CEO Nadella, Mozilla CEO accuses Microsoft of Windows 10 Browser Defaults as the company has made Edge the default browser in its latest operating system. He called on Microsoft to reverse what he called an “aggressive move to override user choice.”

Chris Beard, Mozilla CEO accuses Microsoft and wrote:

“The upgrade process now appears to be purposefully designed to throw away the choices its customers have made about the Internet experience they want, and replace it with the Internet experience Microsoft wants them to have. It now takes more than twice the number of mouse clicks, scrolling through content and some technical sophistication for people to reassert the choices they had previously made in earlier versions of Windows. It’s confusing, hard to navigate and easy to get lost.”

Mozilla CEO said that his company contacted Microsoft to discuss its concerns over Windows 10 Browser Defaults, but its efforts did not result in any progress, so this letter has been written.

It is still possible to make Chrome or Firefox your default browser, but you can’t do it with just a click “Use Firefox as my default browser.” You have to go through a few steps to make it your default browser, which can be a bit annoying.

Mozilla CEO accuses Microsoft in an open letter and Microsoft issued the following statement regarding it to Tech Crunch:

“We designed Windows 10 to provide a simple upgrade experience for users and a cohesive experience following the upgrade. During the upgrade, consumers have the choice to set defaults, including for web browsing. Following the upgrade, they can easily choose the default browser of their choice. As with all aspects of the product, we have designed Windows 10 as a service; if we learn from user experience that there are ways to make improvements, we will do so.”

According to a report by Netmarketshare, various versions of Internet Explorer still accounts for more than 52 per cent of global web traffic. Google Chrome has nearly 17 per cent of the share, while Mozilla Firefox is only around 12 per cent.
