Control Video Quality with Netflix’s New Mobile Data-Saving Feature

If you have a habit of binging on Netflix, then you’ve got to be very careful about where and when you watch Netflix.

Because Netflix doesn’t allow you to download shows to take with you so whenever you’re watching, you’re streaming. And all this can run up your data charges if you’re not connected to Wi-Fi.

But Netflix wants to make sure that this doesn’t happen to you as it has launched Netflix’s new mobile data-saving feature which can save you from all this trouble.

How to activate Netflix’s New mobile data-saving feature?

To find the new controls, all you have to do is:

  • Tap App Settings from the menu
  • Then tap the toggle switch to turn off “Set Automatically” before choosing your own video-quality setting
  • There will be 5 options to choose from – Off (Wi-Fi only) to stop all streaming when Wi-Fi is not available, Low (lets you watch 4 hours per GB of data), Medium (lets you watch 2 hours per GB), High(lets you watch 1 hour per GB) and Unlimited

You’ll be between the Low and Medium settings if you choose the “Set Automatically” option.

Other Things You Should Know About the Feature

This new feature will help you to balance good video quality with lower data usage to help avoid incurring overage fees.

And be sure to update Netflix app on your Android or iOS device to the most recent version.

The bit rates currently amount to about 600 Kilobits per second.

And this could change over time as Netflix improves and evolves, and actual data usage will vary according to your device and network.

In the end,

We Love Netflix.
We Love Netflix.

We can only say that the Netflix’s new mobile data-saving feature will give you greater choice and more control in managing your data usage, whether you’re on an unlimited cellular plan or the one that’s more restrictive.
