Pokémon Go game for Android and iOS to launch in 2016
During NicoNico Livesteam, the Pokémon Company announced Pokémon Go game for Android and iOS, while discussing its new partnerships and future business plans.
Tsunekazu Ishihara, CEO of the Pokémon Company said that while he was thinking of new ideas for future games, he got to check out Ingress and got some exceptional ideas on what could be done with Pokémon. Now Pokémon Go game for Android and iOS is being developed in collaboration with the Pokémon Company, Nintendo and Niantic Labs, an ex-Google subsidiary.
The company wrote in a video description on YouTube:
“Get ready for an all-new Pokémon experience! Pokémon GO opens a universe of Pokémon to find, catch, trade, and battle on your iPhone or Android device! With Pokémon GO, you’ll discover Pokémon in a whole new world—your own! Pokémon GO will use real location information to allow players to experience catching, trading, and battling Pokémon.”
John Hanke, founder and CEO of Niantic, said in a statement regarding the Pokémon Go game for Android and iOS:
“Pokémon GO is a wonderful combination of Niantic’s real world gaming platform and one of the most beloved franchises in popular culture. Our partnership with The Pokémon Company and Nintendo is an exciting step forward in real-world gaming and using technology to help players discover the world and people around them.”
Pokémon Go Plus, a smartwatch device is also being developed by Nintendo. It is designed to help you take part in the game without staring your smartphone all day. When you get near to a Pokémon in the real world, this Pokéball-shaped device will light up and vibrate.
Pokémon Go game for Android and iOS will be launched in 2016 and will be free to play; however, various in-app purchases will be available. The price of Pokémon Go Plus watch hasn’t been disclosed, as of now.
