Revenge Porn Website Owner Jailed

Revenge Porn: Woman with Laptop

Kevin Bollaert, 28, posted thousands of sexually explicit photos of people on his “revenge porn” site and now has been jailed to 18 years in prison. Kevin Bollaert was convicted in February.

He was running a website that was responsible for posting more than 10,000 nude pictures. The website – ugot posted.com started in December 2012. The site had enabled users to upload explicit photos which were posted without the user’s permission. Kevin Bollaert also ran another site – changemyreputation.com where the effected users would come and pay Kevin Bollaert to have their pictures removed.

Kevin Bollaert was charging up to $350 to remove the pictures. The judges were severe on this matter and said that Bollaert is involved in extortion; they further said that the blackmailing had caused a lot of distress to a number of families.

Other revenge porn sites would not include the full details of the subject that was not the case with Kevin Bollaert’s site. His website included the subjects name, address, age, and Facebook link and phone number.

Some of the victims included wives and teachers. The explicit photos had led to broken relationships and many people had lost their jobs because of the photos. There was also an attempted suicide event by a victim. Kevin Bollaert had earned more than $30,000 from the people who paid him to remove the pictures.

Sentenced for 18 years, Kevin Bollaert’s parents pleaded to the judge that their son is remorseful but the Judge said that they will be vigilant against those who profit from exploiting other people.
