Who is the new president of Nintendo?

Tatsumi Kimishima has been selected as the new president of Nintendo, following the death of Satoru Iwata in July.

The Japanese gaming giant hopes that Mr. Kimshima’s long experience in business will help reduce the company’s recent troubles. The Nintendo Wii U has been struggling for a while to compete with rival gaming consoles from Sony and Microsoft.

Before the death of Mr. Iwata, he confirmed that the company was working on new games platform: Nintendo NX. He also said that the Japanese gaming giant will be developing games for mobile phones.

Tatsumi Kimishima has been selected as the new president of Nintendo and will officially begin his role on September 16th. Earlier, he has served as Nintendo’s managing director and head of human resources, and prior to that he served as the CEO of Nintendo America. Since 2000, he has been working with the company when he became the Chief Financial Officer of The Pokemon Company.

Nintendo said in an official statement regarding the new president of Nintendo:

“We aim to strengthen and enhance the management structure of the company following President (Representative Director) Satoru Iwata’s passing on July 11, 2015 and a large-scale revision of the organizational structure of the company.”

Meanwhile, Takeda and Miyamoto, have been named Technology Fellow and Creative Fellow, respectively. According to the Japanese gaming giant, the role of a Fellow is held by “an individual selected from among the Representative Directors who has advanced knowledge and extensive experience, and holds the role of providing advice and guidance regarding organizational operations in a specialized area.”

Tatsumi Kimishima has been selected as the new president of Nintendo and has also worked with the company for more than a decade. It is to be seen if he can take the company to new heights.
