Google Trends Gets Updated To Provide Real Time Search Data

The Search Engine Giant, Google has updated Google Trends to provide real time search data so that users can explore minute-by-minute snapshot of what the world is searching for. It is said to be the “biggest expansion of Google Trends since 2012” when the company merged Search Insights into Trends.

According to Google this update aims to provide a “faster, deeper and more comprehensive view of our world” through real time search data on everything from the Donald Trump’s presidential campaign kick-off to FIFA scandal.

Users will now find a real time list of trending stories in the form of featured stories on the new Google Trends Homepage and ranked according to the data obtained from Google News and YouTube, besides to the Search results. Starting from today, the new homepage for Google Trends will be available in 28 countries and add more locations will be added in the next few months.

Nimrod Tamir, Google Trends team member wrote on the blog post “You’ll be able to track the stories most people are searching for and where in the world interest is peaking.”

Google Trends users will also be able to get insight on more than a billion searches on Google that happen every month, see real time data on any topic and can search for data for a specific time period.

The new homepage of Google Trends follows the principals of Google’s year-old design language, Material Design that is now ubiquitous throughout its web and mobile products. Besides bringing the data faster and from various sources, it will cover niche topics that are trending in smaller geographic locations. Google also told that many updates in this new version of Google Trends are based on the feedback got from journalists around the world.
