Nintendo is All Set to Launch Two Mobile Games for Free

Following the March release of its first mobile app, Miitomo, Nintendo is all set to launch two mobile gamesAnimal Crossing and Fire Emblem – for smartphones this fall. Both the games will be free to download.

Why is Nintendo launching the Games for Free?

The idea of offering free-to-play games with in-app purchases has become pretty popular among mobile app makers.

As this typically allows game enthusiasts to use all the basic features of the app for free but then pay for extra options and items.

This gives the users a good taste of the app and gives the developers a way to generate revenue without charging any money up front.

Nintendo has actually planned to offer 5 mobile apps altogether, and the company has already off to a hot start with Miitomo, which picked up more than 10 million registered users within one month of its launch.

And the new games also follow the same model as Miitomo, which is free to play but includes in-app purchases for various items.

About Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem

In Animal Crossing, players  will move to a new town where they’ll buy a house and do odd jobs in order to pay it off.

In this way, microtransactions could sneak their way into the experience, and allow the players to buy new outfits, new furniture, or even in-game currency with real-world money.

However, it’s difficult to predict how Fire Emblem, a series of strategy-based role-playing games, will make that transition.

What Next?

After the release of Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing, Nintendo plans to launch the remaining two apps in 2017.

And these games would be based on the popular Animal Crossing and Fire Emblem franchises.

Summing up

We still don’t know when we’ll see the apps as no specific release dates have been announced yet.

But we’re eagerly awaiting the games so that we can also write their reviews. Just Kidding!!
