Vietnam’s Phu Quoc Island Launches Its First Infographic

New York, USA (November 13, 2015) – Phu Quoc Island, a mountainous, lush island in Vietnam is becoming Asia’s next top vacation destination. The island is home to numerous luxurious seaside resorts, golf courses, spas, and restaurants. Duong Dong, the main town and center of all tourist activity, has a casual vibe and is filled with exciting nightclubs, bars and discos.

Major projects in transportation, hospitality, and tourism have transformed this once sleepy backpacker destination, into a magnet for intrepid tourists. Population and demographic statistics from the Kien Giang Tourism Board showed that in 2014 the number of tourists to the island was almost 600,000, representing in an increase of almost 50 percent from the previous year. The island is expected to receive over 1,000,000 tourists in 2015.

Also known as the “Pearl Paradise Island” (“đảo ngọc””) by the Vietnamese, Phu Quoc is located in the southern province of Kien Giang , which is only a one hour flight from Ho Chi Minh City and nearly a two and a half hour flight from Hanoi. It is the largest island in Vietnam at nearly 580 square kilometers, roughly equivalent to the size of Singapore with a permanent population of 103,000 people. Phu Quoc Island is famous for its beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, unique ridgeback dog, fish sauce, black pepper, and pearls. The Vietnamese government waives visas for foreigners visiting the island for up to 30 days.
