Microsoft’s Send app unleashed and is basically a short-form email app for instant formal chatting

Microsoft’s Send app has been unleashed by Microsoft’s Outlook team and is currently available only for iPhone users in Canada and the U.S. It is basically a short-form email app that has been designed for professionals to send short messages to each other instead of sending emails.

Can Microsoft’s Send app replace emails?

Unlike Outlook, Send is not intended to be a full featured email app. Users can’t use it to read emails they have already received or search their inbox. Microsoft’s Send app only shows threads that have been initiated from within the app.

Microsoft’s Outlook team said “With Send, there are no signatures, subject lines or salutations required. Our design principle for the app was to make conversations fast and fluid while keeping the people who are important to you at its core.”

With Microsoft’s Send app, the company is doing away with formal email structures like subject lines and signatures; the idea is to move towards short-form conversations that users can dash off in few seconds. The app may be used to quickly send a message to a co-worker like, “Where is the meeting being held?” or “don’t send the presentation yet!”

Microsoft’s Send app is the latest app to arrive out of Microsoft Garage, which is Microsoft’s internal initiative that lets employees to experiment their ideas and turn them into real-world projects. The app will only support Office 365 business and education accounts as of now, and the messages sent in the app are sync to Outlook.

Microsoft said that the Microsoft’s Send app will soon be launched for Android and Windows users. This concept is fascinating, but today people use various mobile messaging apps like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and lot more, so it may be difficult for Microsoft to attract more people towards its app.
