Sony PlayStation Plus subscription charges hiked for the monthly and quarterly subscribers

Normally companies tend to price annual subscriptions cheaper than the monthly subscriptions. This is because the annual subscription usually means that users are committed to the company for the long term. Sony PlayStation Plus subscription charges hiked for the monthly and quarterly subscribers. Users of the annual package subscriber don’t need to worry as their fees remain unchanged.

In a statement Sony official said regarding the hike of Sony PlayStation Plus subscription charges:

“We are dedicated to bringing PlayStation Plus members the best possible service with the most compelling content. From 1st September 2015 we will be increasing the price of monthly and three month PlayStation Plus subscriptions in line with market conditions. We will continue to invest in PS Plus to ensure an unparalleled experience, featuring the best quality games and features.”

However, it should be noted that Sony PlayStation Plus subscription charges hike will only affect gamers residing in Europe and the UK, so if you are living in other parts of the world like Asia or the US, it seems that you are good for now.

Presently, a one month Sony PlayStation Plus subscription costs £5.49, a quarterly subscription costs £11.99 and an annual subscription costs £39.99. Sony has not revealed the new prices of monthly and quarterly subscriptions, but said they would be “in line with market conditions.”

PlayStation 4 users subscribe to PlayStation Plus subscription so that they can play with their friends online, use the Share Play feature and also gain access to cloud storage for saving games. Benefits of Plus subscription include free games and exclusive discounts.

The hike in the Sony PlayStation Plus subscription charges for monthly and quarterly subscribers suggests that the company is trying to push its customers to commit to an annual subscription.
