Comcast increased Internet Speed for Free in the Northeast

Comcast increased internet speed for free in the Northeast in order to retain customers who not only ante up for TV and broadband, but also for home phone service.

Blast! Service subscribers will notice that Comcast increased internet speed from 105 Mbps to 150 Mbps. Moreover, existing and new customers that have one of the MSO’s triple-play packages are getting Performance Pro, which will see its downstream capabilities rising to 75 Mbps from 25 Mbps. The latest upgrades will be for Comcast’s Northeast Division, including 14 states from Maine to Virginia, as well as Washington D.C.

Who will get the Comcast increased internet speed for free in the Northeast?

Comcast increased internet speed will be available to the majority of existing and new customers starting later in July. New Performance Pro speeds will be received by the subscribers who take eligible triple play bundles, and all existing and new customers with Blast will also get the increased internet speed. Some subscribers eligible for the new internet speeds may need to upgrade their modems and customers leasing modems from Comcast will be receiving upgraded modems at no extra charges.

Kevin Casey, President of Comcast Cable’s Northeast Division, said in a statement “Today, our customers simultaneously connect to the Internet through multiple smartphones, tablets and laptops, and whether it’s to stream, shop, video chat, upload photos or do homework, we’re committed to ensuring they get the best overall experience with blazing fast speeds and the most Wi-Fi coverage, all delivered over our state-of-the-art network.”

Comcast is one of the largest Wi-Fi provider in the region and state and has more than 8.5 million Xfinity WiFi hotspots countrywide. Xfinity Internet subscribers can access Xfinity WiFi hotspots by selecting “xfinitywifi” from the available networks on their mobile devices or laptops and can then enter their Comcast username and password.

Comcast increased internet speed for free in the Northeast, but Internet/TV-only and Internet-only Comcast subscribers with speed tiers lower than Blast service will not see any increased speed.
