Emmanuel Sanders gets hurt while trying for game-winning TD

The Cleveland Browns broke their two-game losing streak on Sunday, defeating the Baltimore Ravens and improving their 2015 National Football League (NFL) season record to 2-3. The Denver Broncos quarterback had three passes intercepted on Sunday, including one that was returned for a touchdown. The Broncos beat the Browns 26-23 in overtime October 18 at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland. And, a 6-0 start notwithstanding, Broncos fans have been critical of their 39-year-old quarterback whenever the team’s once-punishing offense sputters under his command.

“It has by no means been easy, but coach Kubiak and I continue to talk and we are committed to trying to get on the same page and get where he and I have a good feel for each other”, Manning said.

Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning threw a 75-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders midway through the fourth quarter one play after the Browns took the lead for the first time after being down 10-0 at halftime. Cleveland kicker Travis Coons drew the Browns even with the Broncos when he converted a 26-yard field goal with 1:30 to play in regulation.

For the third consecutive week, Cleveland’s game down to a game-winning field goal. Denver did their best two minute drill, but overtime came after a Sanders catch on the field was overturned and ruled incomplete which took the Broncos out of field goal range. If they kick the extra point, they avoid overtime, where they would surely lose, and win 24-23. Manning over the last three weeks has thrown two touchdowns and seven interceptions. With DeMarcus Ware already sidelined with a back injury, the team lost another talented pass rusher, first-round pick Shane Ray. However, if the Broncos record is not that good, he would have benched Manning already.

Outside of Benjamin and one 25-yard reception by Andrew Hawkins, the Browns receiving corps were ghosts again this week as they have been for much of the season.

However, given the miles on Manning, his age, and his lack of arm strength from those neck surgeries, cold weather – especially in Denver – could become a scary factor for an already-struggling offense. Defense played lights out. The offense has the talent and needs to do more to help out their defense.

Meanwhile, the Browns have had mixed results so far in the season. Running back Isaiah Crowell lost two yards on a run to the right.

Near flawless? Throw it quick and the Broncos’ defensive backs cover receivers step for step. Manning went 4-for-4 for 39 yards, and running backs Ronnie Hillman and C.J. Anderson pushed their lungs to the limit, collecting 37 of their 152 yards on the final drive.

By then, the Browns’ defense was cooked spaghetti – physically and emotionally spent. That decision served Denver well on Sunday, as Hillman delivered 111 yards on 20 carries. The Browns had only one interception in the first five games.

Later in the drive, Manning moved the Broncos to the Browns’ 29-yard line with a 16-yard pass to Thomas, but three plays later, Denver’s offense stalled and settled for its third field goal of the game.
