Microsoft Makes Many Important Announcements At E3 2015

Microsoft opened the show at E3 2015 with a new trailer of its flagship game for Xbox i.e. Halo 5: Guardians and the new multiplayer mode called “Warzone” which is coming later this year. They also announced Rise of the Tomb Raider, Gears of War 4, Forza 6 and some other games for Xbox.

Microsoft showcased Minecraft on the company’s Hololens augmented reality (AR) hardware. Saxs Persson, Microsoft Studios manager showed how the block-building game can use the upcoming device, which overlays computer graphics onto the real world to create a tabletop Minecraft landscape that players can control through voice and touch gestures.

Gears of War is getting its first non-Epic instalment called Gears of War 4 which is set to be released in 2016. Microsoft is also remastering Gears of War as it did with the Halo series, with an “ultimate” edition available in beta today.

Microsoft is unleashing something similar to Steam’s Early Access program which will let Xbox One owners buy and play the incomplete versions of games, effectively acting as beta testers in return for getting to play it sooner.

Microsoft also announced that selected Xbox 360 games will be backward compatible with the Xbox One console and they also unveiled a new “Elite wireless” controller which is a more customizable version of the standard Xbox gamepad. It includes features like a directional pad that can be swapped out and controls that can be re-mapped. PC gamers also have some good news because the new wireless controller will also work on Windows 10 which will be coming soon.

Kudo Tsunoda, Corporate vice president and Hololens head announced at E3 that the company would be working with Valve to make Windows 10 the “de facto” platform for virtual reality technologies for the PC. It seems that Microsoft is making strong moves to make its presence in both the AR(Augmented Reality) and VR(Virtual Reality) sectors.
