Facebook has been experimenting a lot for the past few days, like they changed their logo, changed Friends Icon and Groups Icon and they are also working on Moneypenny, their new virtual assistant. According to a report by Techcrunch, Watch Later button can now be seen on Facebook.
Where will users see Watch Later Button on Facebook?
The Watch Later button now appears in the upper right hand corner of the videos when users pass their mouse over it, or scroll past it. If users want to view the videos in their News Feed later, they can click on the Watch later button and view it whenever they want. The videos which we tag later will then go into users’ Saved folders, which also include articles selected via the Save feature.
By introducing the new feature of Watch Later button, Facebook is trying to attract more users to its video content to compete with Google’s YouTube. The social media giant announced earlier this month that it is testing out “Suggested Videos” feature (new ad-supported video feature). The Suggested Videos feature is presently being tested on iPhones, and includes a revenue-sharing agreement with content creators and media companies that is similar to YouTube’s revenue sharing model.
Last month, Facebook also announced that it is updating its News Feed algorithm to additionally consider what kind of videos a user engages with. After the update, users will see more videos of their choice in their News Feed.
Watch Later Button can now be seen on Facebook and will soon be available for all. By this feature Facebook can collect more data about its users, like what type of content they like to save for later, and what are the chances they will actually come back to those videos later.
