Xbox 360 and PS3 will no longer receive GTA Online updates, confirms Rockstar
Rockstar has confirmed that Xbox 360 and PS3 will no longer receive GTA Online updates and all future updates will be available only for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
Xbox 360 and PS3 will no longer receive GTA Online updates and Rockstar told Kotaku regarding it:
“As we mentioned previously, we always knew there might be a point where we would reach the technical capacity of what the older generation of consoles can handle as each downloadable update requires additional memory both for assets and for additional scripting.

Rockstar continued:
“We have continued to optimise the entire game over time in order to squeeze as much memory as we possibly could out of the last generation hardware and at some point, continuing to add content for those systems could cause the risk of instability to the game overall.”
Rockstar said that after two years of continuous free content updates to older consoles, it will now focus on the more powerful consoles like Xbox One and PS4. According to the company, it has some great ideas to make the most of these gaming consoles.
Since Xbox One and PS4 are more powerful consoles the developers can can utilize more memory and pack additional assets into the game. The game developers can also create more complex game types and deliver ideas that only the newer gaming consoles can allow.
Xbox 360 and PS3 will no longer receive GTA Online updates of Freemode events with the aim to push the updates in the latest technically-demanding directions. These consoles have got to the point where no more updates can be added to them without breaking them.
