In the latest town hall Q&A session, held at the social media giant’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California, Zuckerberg said that Facebook is working to give users more options than a dislike button.

Facebook’s CEO said for the past few years, people have asked about the dislike button and now his team is finally working on it. He said his team didn’t want to build just a dislike button and turn Facebook into a forum where people are just voting up and down on posts.

Facebook is working to give users more options than a dislike button and Mark Zuckerberg said regarding it:

“Not every moment is a good moment. If you share something that’s sad, like a refugee crisis that touches you or a family member passes away – it may not be comfortable to like that post…. I do think it’s important to give people more options than liking it.”

He also said that his team has been working to create other options for a while and it’s a surprisingly complicated process to achieve it. But, his team has an idea that they’ll be testing out soon and if it works well, the company will be rolling it out more broadly.

Since November, Mark Zuckerberg has been holding town these hall Q&A sessions about once a month. In the Q&A session, he discusses regarding the latest technology trends, such as Internet traffic rules, along with social issues such as terrorism. Later this month, he’s planning to hold a discussion with Indian PM Narendra Modi to discuss economic and social challenges.

Facebook is working to give users more options than a dislike button as Zuckerberg said people may want other options to express their emotions on Facebook.
