On December 17, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) alleged massive corruption at the DDCA, when it was helmed by Jaitley.

BJP stalwarts like L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Shanta Kumar and Yashwant Sinha, who had virtually revolted after Bihar poll debacle, yesterday met to discuss Azad’s suspension and issues related to the party leadership.

Azad was suspended Wednesday after he targeted Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over alleged irregularities in the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

The supporters begun their protest soon after the party held its regular press briefing inside the premises.

The drama over Kirti Azad’s suspension has snowballed into an internal tug-of-war for the BJP.

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the suspension of BJP MP Kirti Azad from the party over DDCA corruption charges.

“I have not said anything against the party”.

The DDCA row became intense after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal alleged that a CBI raid last week on his top officer was an attempt to search for files on DDCA and “save Mr. Jaitley”.

Referring to this statement of Shah, where DDCA is only indirectly referred to, Azad bowled a googly in his reply.

“Some of them feel that action has been taken against a person who acted like a whistle-blower”, an informed source told IANS.

In a veiled warning that in-house dissenters, including Shatrughan Sinha, may face Azad’s fate, Jaitley hinted on his blog, “Stray thoughts after winter session”, that disciplinary action was initiated against the former cricketer for his refusal to mend ways despite warning.

Azad went against the Party’s diktat of keeping mum on the matter which was already being raised by the AAP government to corner the Centre on issues of corruption and raids on Delhi Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar.

Instead, it was seen that BJP president Amit Shah, another Modi confidant, presided over the decision after failing to persuade Azad from addressing the media on the DDCA issue.

“Is this what probity and accountability in public life is all about”, the Congress leader said.
