You need to update your Kindle by March 22 to stay connected

Do you use Amazon kindle, specifically the one from 2012 or earlier? If yes, then you need to read this news carefully. According to Amazon, you need to update your Kindle by 22 March to stay connected to the internet.

If you’ll not update your Kindle, you’ll no longer be able to use Kindle services like Kindle Store and will not be able to sync your device with the cloud. According to the ecommerce giant, the latest update is required to make sure that the Kindle remains compliant with the industry web standards.

The devices that need to be updated by 22 March:

  • Kindle Paperwhite 5th Generation (2012)
  • Kindle 5th Generation (2012)
  • Kindle Touch 4th Generation (2011)
  • Kindle 4th Generation (2011)
  • Kindle Keyboard 3rd Generation (2010)
  • Kindle DX 2nd Generation (2009)
  • Kindle 2nd Generation (2009)
  • Kindle 1st Generation (2007)

What happens if you’ll not update your Kindle by March 22?

You’ll receive the following warning message, if you try to access any internet accessed services:

“Your Kindle is unable to connect to WiFi at this time. Please make sure you are within wireless range and try again. If the problem persists, please restart your Kindle from the Menu in Settings and try again.”

If you see this message, you’ll have to install the latest software update manually on your device. Click here to read more information from the company.

Amazon also points out that the Kindle Paperwhite 5th Generation, the Kindle Touch 4th Generation and the Kindle Keyboard 3rd Generation will only be updated via Wifi, even if you’ve the working 3G connection

If you’ve Kindle 2nd Generation and Kindle DX 2nd Generation that you’ve not connected to wireless (2G/3G) since October 5, 2015, you’ve to connect it now. They both will be updated via wireless data only.

So, kindly update your old Kindle in time to use the internet on it otherwise you’ll have to do it manually.
