What are the enhancements in the new Google Chromecast?

The new Google Chromecast will support Spotify and may be launched later this month, according to a report by 9to5Google.

Expected enhancements of the new Google Chromecast:

The upcoming media streamer by Google will come with many enhanced features, including the option to pull feeds into the home screen, a new “Fast Play” feature, better WiFi (perhaps 802.11ac), and much more.

According to users of the first generation of Chromecast, they experienced a delay when hitting the cast button from a connected phone or tab. The new Fast Play feature is said to make that experience more seamless.

Pictures of the second generation of Chromecast are not very clear, but the images show something called Chromecast Audio. According to the report, it will allow the updated device to connect to speakers via an auxiliary cord. Reports also suggest that it will have multi-room support and will be able to mirror your Android or Chrome audio.

The blog also reads:

“Although Google offers its own Chromecast-supported streaming service in the form of Google Play Music, the company is clearly even further opening the doors to direct competitors intending to push content through the platform.”

“All the way back in 2014, Spotify said that it had no plans to support Chromecast and that it was focusing on its own “Connect” platform. Supporting Chromecast was never completely off the table, however, and now the feature seems all but certain.”

Reportedly, the new Google Chromecast will be launched at the search engine giant’s event on September 29th. Google is also expected to reveal two new Nexus phones — one from Huawei and one from LG.
