The creators of Wolfenstein, Doom, and Quake who helped define the first-person shooter (FPS) genre of games, John Romero, and Adrian Carmack are getting back together to create a dark new game called Blackroom in the FPS genre, which is now a multibillion-dollar market.

The Night Work Games, Romero and Carmack’s new startup has also launched a Kickstarter crowd funding campaign to raise $700,000 to make the game. The campaign has already reached its goal of $700,000 and is still counting.

They have also launched a Twitch live stream to talk about the game.

The All New FPS Blackroom Has a Story That Matters

Blackroom stars Dr. Santiago Sonora, an engineer at Hoxar, the massive holographic company, where he investigates irregularities in the Blackroom military training system.

The game is set in a future where lifelike holographic reality is the norm, but it’s overrun with sinister visions.

The locations include hardcore hellish infernos, military sims, and interstellar space.

It will have a variety of multiplayer modes, 1-on-1 deathmatch, cooperative play, and a free-for-all arena.

The acclaimed metal guitarist George Lynch will also have a soundtrack in this action-heavy game.

If rocket jumping and strafing aren’t enough, then you can also carry as many weapons as you want, after all, you’re in a holographic environment.

The holographic world also features a device called “Boxel,” which players can use to influence the simulation and change the weapons, environment, and enemies.

And you can do much more things with it, what about stopping the time? Wow!!

Is It a VR Game?

Well, just because Blackroom is set in a world of lifelike virtual realities, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be a VR game.

Romero said during the live stream that VR makes people sick. And if there is any VR, it’ll have to wait. The same applies to potential console versions of the game because right now the focus is – PC and Mac only.

Till then wait for the game as it comes out on May 13, and the new title from duo will come out in the winter of 2018.
