Vice to offer media content for Verizon new mobile video service

Last month, Verizon acquired AOL for $4.4 billion, which will provide ad technology targeted for smartphones and tabs for its service. Now, Vice to offer media content for Verizon new mobile video service across various categories such as food, culture, travel and technology.

What we can expect from the deal between Vice and Verizon?

Verizon officials said in a statement that the content would also comprise of autobiographies of renowned personalities and even content from the National Football League in addition to various categories.

Terry Denson, Vice President of content strategy and acquisition at Verizon, said in a statement. “The media landscape is experiencing a seismic shift in storytelling, audience, immediacy and platforms. Vice is connecting with an entire generation in a way that no one else is, and Verizon will connect consumers to Vice in a way that no one else does by combining Vice’s storytelling with the most compelling mobile video platform.”

Verizon new mobile video service will be launched later this year, which is aimed at families and younger viewers. The service will be available to anyone with a mobile phone and even the people who are not Verizon subscribers. Verizon new mobile video service would have three types of content, which are as follows:

1. Free content supported by advertising.
2. Content that would cost, according to the data consumed.
3. Pay per view content for the live events.

Vice Media last year won an Emmy award for its splendid informational series or special for its HBO series VICE. Silicon Valley’s Technology Crossover Ventures and A&E Networks invested $500 million in Vice. Verizon will benefit a lot from its deal with Vice as it is quite popular among youngsters. The main intention of Verizon new mobile video service is that the users will probably consume more mobile data due to media content via their mobile devices, and will have to pay more.
