Microsoft Windows 10 Reportedly to Come in USB Flash Drives

As the official release date for Windows 10 which is July 29 is approaching we have been hearing fresh news regarding Microsoft’s next variant of Windows. According to a report by WinFuture.de, a German website, Microsoft is planning to sell its Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro SKUs in retail stores via USB flash drives besides the regular DVD disk. The USB flash drive version of the Microsoft Windows 10 will allow the users to install and license it only to a single PC. Both the 64-bit and the 32-bit versions will be included in the USB flash drive version of Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Pro.

Benefits of using USB Flash Drive

Most of us looking to upgrade to Windows 10 will either select to download it online or might opt to buy the DVD from a retail shop. But the move to USB Flash Drive is a smart one by Microsoft as users often used to create installable USB drives from optical media or downloaded media. As compared to DVDs, pen drives are much faster, easy to carry and more durable than a DVD. Also, Installation via pen drives takes less time as compared to DVD’s. Some of the big brands like Apple no longer put DVD drives in its MacBooks. Similarly, many high end laptops including Microsoft’s own Surface, comes without a DVD drive.

Microsoft Windows 10 will be available for free to all the users having a genuine version of Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 on their computers. Windows 10 Home is likely to be priced at $119 and Windows 10 Pro will be priced at $199 for new users. Microsoft has not yet confirmed or denied the existence of SKUs for USB flash drive variants of Microsoft Windows 10 at retail.
